This project proved more challenging and complex a journey than originally anticipated, but I learned a great deal. I had to master Tiny Core Linux, X Window System, Ubuntu Unity, and even wireless LAN security all in the context of an ancient piece of hardware. I review my learnings and then provide the details on how to create the X Terminal.

You might want to run one X Window System desktop environment on your local computer while accessing second computer, including its own desktop environment, using the first computer’s screen and keyboard. This is known as "X nesting". Open-source clients such as Xnest and Xephyr support X nesting.

I found a comprehensive VT100 / xterm terminal emulator, integrated with a tunneled X server, that gives me a mobile display for the Raspberry Pi via my iPad.
